Published in Augsburg c.1603, Bayer's Uranometria was the first atlas to cover the entire celestial sphere. This plate depicts the constellation Auriga (the Charioteer) with original hand-coloring and gold leaf highlights on the stars. A landmark of Renaissance astronomy and cartography.
